RECALLING ARIZONA’S PIONEER PAST, EXCLUSIVE CINTAROSA RANCH OPENS AT DESERT MOUNTAIN
June 19, 2008
Recalling Arizona’s pioneering history, both in architecture and terrain, Cintarosa Ranch is Desert Mountain’s final collection of luxurious, customized homes within the prestigious north Scottsdale community.
Cintarosa, which is Spanish for the thin band of magenta light manifesting on the horizon just prior to sunset, is Desert Mountain’s newest neighborhood at the community’s highest point with elevations ranging from 3,100 to 3,800 feet.
A total of 21 customized homes are planned for the exclusive collection. Buyers can select a homesite (from more than one-half acre to more than five acres) and build to suit from three floor plans ranging from 4,685 to 5,473 square feet.
“Architecturally, the homes are reminiscent of the territorial ranch style found in Arizona more than a century ago,” explained Brian O’Neill, president of Desert Mountain Real Estate. “Covered porches and verandas, deep-set windows, hand-hewn timbers and copper details accentuate the homes’ authenticity.”
Cintarosa Ranch has been designed to blend seamlessly with the rugged contours of the land, consisting of canyons, ridges and plateaus, and is bisected by game trails for desert wildlife including mule deer, jackrabbits, javelina, desert tortoise, Arizona chuckwalla and others. Each home offers courtyards, gardens and outdoor areas that connect with the natural surroundings.
The three floor plans include:
--The Plateau, offering 4,685 to 4,870 square feet, features two master suites and a third bedroom/library, three-and-one-half baths, spacious kitchen and sumptuous great room and dining room overlooking a covered patio with a birds-eye view of the Valley. A guest casita includes a living room, bedroom and bath. The home is accessed through an expansive courtyard with a French limestone walkway. In addition, the home offers custom forged light fixtures, a wine fridge and beverage center in the master bedroom, an exotic outdoor shower in the master bath, and hand pillowed limestone floors in the kitchen.
--The Hillside plan offers two master bedrooms, three-and-one-half baths, an office located off the great room and dining room, and a kitchen with eat-in nook and a morning room. The home, which ranges from 4,994 to 5,026 square feet, also has a guest casita as well as a barbecue patio. Other custom details include Venetian plaster walls and ceiling and 16-foot bi-fold alder doors in the great room, a waterfall spa and a custom built-in entertainment center on the patio.
--The Ridge is the largest of the three plans with 5,415 to 5,473 square feet. The home, surrounding a spacious central courtyard, features a great room and dining room, master bedroom with its own outdoor room and a private courtyard leading to a guest casita that has a living room, kitchen and bedroom. There are three-and-one-half baths, a family room opening to the kitchen, a second bedroom, office/library with secret closet, and a large covered patio with barbecue area.
Other distinctive features of the plan include a climate-controlled wine room with a 642-bottle capacity, waterfall faucets and custom granite vanities in the master bath, custom iron chandeliers and 10 fireplaces throughout the home.
Each plan has a three-car garage. Exteriors include a choice of refined natural stone accents, mud-set and sand-cast clay tile and corrugated copper roofs and outdoor fireplaces.
Currently, three homes have been completed and are available for touring: The Plateau is priced at $3,100,000; The Hillside at $3,675,000; and The Ridge, which is fully-furnished, at $4,850,000. Each includes custom finishes such as imported
marbles like arenza and onyx, stone, granite, hardwoods such as walnut, wormy oak and mesquite, and furniture quality cabinetry, as well as infinity pools and spas.
Home prices includes a Deferred Equity Membership in The Desert Mountain Club which counts six world-renowned Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses and six award-winning themed clubhouses, with a variety of dining experiences and acclaimed golf shops, among its amenities.
Cintarosa Ranch land borders the Tonto National Forest and was formerly Carefree Ranch, once the largest cattle ranch in the area.
For more than 100 years, the Cartwright family, pioneers who came to Arizona in 1874, worked the land and artifacts from that time have been preserved in the Cave Creek Museum in the nearby town of Cave Creek.
Until recently, cattle still roamed the property and every day, Desert Mountain’s own cow boss, Raymond “Twister” Heller, rode the land, tending to the cattle and handling the chores such as mending fences and maintaining the corrals.
