With its rolling hills, spectacular views and walkable fairways, it would seem a safe assumption that the Outlaw course at Desert Mountain is a member favorite. Seated at the helm of the efforts to improve Outlaw’s reputation for presenting a challenge is their newly appointed head golf professional, 26-year-old Lisa Abernethy. Those who don’t know Abernethy personally may do a double take at her age and title, but her long and impressive resume speaks for itself. Not to mention the fact that she’s technically already spent 20 years in the golf field, having first picked up the game at age six.

For more than two decades, Desert Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona, has offered its members one of the greatest private golf and lifestyle experiences in the world. Home to six award-winning Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf courses, Desert Mountain also provides diverse amenities that the entire family can enjoy in a stunning location with dramatic views of metro Phoenix and Scottsdale, natural landmarks, and the lush desert landscape of the Northeast Valley.

High above Scottsdale’s desert floor, one distinctive characteristic stands out among the craggy mountains, rugged landscape and tens of thousands of tile roofed homes. This metropolis, experiencing a real estate revival since the Great Recession, remains a hotbed for golf.
