Fit for Bona
Fide Champions

A demanding course bordered by the lush Sonoran Desert on all sides, Cochise calls for a well-calculated approach, precision shot-making, and a golfer’s most agile touch to tackle its 7,042 yards of difficult terrain and contoured greens. The magnificent layout is a true skills challenge, with rolling fairways surrounded by water and dramatic rock formations. The hallmarks of the course are the par-3 #7 and par-5 #15 holes, where a shared double green sits on a scenic island approached from two different directions.

COURSE FACT

Cochise historically played host to The Tradition, the first major on the Senior PGA Tour. During his illustrious career, course designer Jack Nicklaus (nicknamed “The Golden Bear”) won the event here four times.

Put Your Talents to the Test

Strategic shot placement is the key to success on Cochise, dubbed “the most picturesque golf course in the world” by Nicklaus. Shorter tee shots to the proper side of each fairway are often rewarded with longer, but safer approach shots to the green. However, the risk/reward options can be tempting for golfers who have a bit more length in their game, especially on the par-5 holes. Trust the yardages as visual cues like bunkers, trees, and rock outcroppings can be deceiving in this unique environment. It may prove difficult to recover from the trouble areas if you are long and over the greens.
