Scottish Links in the Desert

Designed by Jack Nicklaus to enhance the natural landscape, Outlaw is a traditional links-style course located on a 176-acre site adjacent to the Tonto National Forest. The spectacular desert scenery is marked by subtle terrain features from the natural washes and gently rolling hills to the clear views of local landmarks like Pinnacle Peak, the McDowell Mountains, and Four Peaks. Because no homes have been built along the greens, you’re able to freely walk the course and play the game just the way it was meant to be played.

COURSE FACT

Outlaw's unique layout requires placement, strategy, and controlled distance off the tee. It also features 126 bunkers and greens that range in size from 5,000 to 14,000 square feet.

Flyover Highlight

Rise to the Occasion

An outstanding test of golf, Outlaw’s biggest challenge is navigating its many variations in the desert winds. This course is as much about the misses as it is about the makes, with a premium for being on the “right” side of the hole. Carefully consider your options before teeing off on the short, par-4 hole #10 with its blind landing area and deep collection area behind the green for those attempting to drive. A similar challenge awaits at hole #14, which has a huge green that wraps around a large depression in the center. If the pin is in the back right, you’ll have to execute the putt of a lifetime to get close.

Signature holes: #4, #10, #14, #18

Clubhouse Highlight

Home on the Range

Built to resemble Arizona’s early-1900s ranch homes, the rustic-chic Outlaw Clubhouse is defined by its vast breezeway with an outdoor fireplace, and its impressive collection of authentic Southwestern artwork. Located just off the breezeway, you’ll find a full-service golf shop and boutique, as well as a designated practice area with a practice hole that was specially designed for fine-tuning your short approach shots.

Restaurant Highlight

Mexican Gone Modern

The clubhouse’s signature breezeway leads to the front door of the warm and welcoming Arizona Grill at Outlaw, the ideal spot for sipping specialty margaritas and enjoying our fresh takes on Southwestern favorites, from grilled skirt steak and street corn to crispy fish tacos and tortilla soup. All of Desert Mountain’s 10 restaurants and grills are helmed by our Culinary Director, Chef Bertrand Bouquin, a world-renowned, French-born chef who has achieved the most coveted distinction and highest honor as a Maître Cuisinier de France.
